Make a Turkish mosaic lamp at VineGogh Studio, our family-owned art studio at 419 Walnut Street in Highland, Illinois. Choose your colors, arrange the glass, and create a lamp that fits your taste.
You don’t need drawing or painting experience. We guide the process and help you work through your design, whether you like a repeating pattern or want to see where the colors take you.
What you’ll make
Turkish mosaic lamps use colored glass pieces and beads to create patterns on a glass globe. The light brings the colors and pattern into view. It’s a practical piece of art, which is part of the appeal: you can put it to work at home.
Lamp styles and project options can vary between workshops. The swan neck lamp pictured here is one example. Check the current event listing for the lamp style, price, what’s included, and any finishing or pickup details.
What to expect at the workshop
We prepare the project materials and show you how to work with them. You’ll spend time choosing colors and arranging your mosaic, with help available as you go.
There isn’t one required color scheme. You can follow a pattern, keep it simple, or mix colors that suit your room. The point is to learn the process and make something you’ll enjoy using.
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes. You don’t have to arrive knowing how to make a mosaic. This is a hands-on project with guided instruction, and you can take the design one section at a time.
If you’ve made a lamp before, a different color palette or pattern gives you something new to explore. Friends can attend the same workshop and make very different pieces.
Private lamp workshops and offsite groups
Planning a birthday, friends’ night, or team event? Ask about a private art workshop at the studio. Project options depend on your group size, date, and materials.
For groups of 15 or more, we also offer selected offsite workshops for businesses, libraries, organizations, and private venues. We bring materials and instruction to your location. Travel availability and pricing depend on the project, location, and event size.
Check dates before making a trip
VineGogh operates by scheduled workshops, private bookings, and appointment rather than regular retail hours. Reserve through the calendar for public workshops, or contact us to discuss your group.
