You Have Me in Stitches
2 Day Mixed Media Studio | Ages 10–14
You Have Me in Stitches is a two day mixed media studio program where watercolor painting meets beginner friendly hand stitching.
This program is designed for students who enjoy working with intention, learning new skills step by step, and spending time on detailed projects in a calm, focused environment.
What students will do
Students will begin by learning a small set of basic hand stitches using a stitch practice book. They’ll choose their own thread colors and practice stitch techniques designed specifically for beginners.
Next, students will create a watercolor painting planned with stitching in mind. Once the painting is dry, they’ll add simple stitched details to enhance their artwork.
On the second day, students will complete their piece and finish it in an embroidery hoop, ready for display.
The creative focus
This program emphasizes:
• patience and attention to detail
• combining multiple art techniques thoughtfully
• following multi step instruction
• working independently within a shared studio space
The process is intentionally paced to allow students to focus without rushing.
Finished project and take home materials
Each student will leave with:
• a finished stitched watercolor artwork displayed in an embroidery hoop
• a stitch practice book
• a selection of embroidery floss to continue practicing at home
All materials are included.
Who this program is best for
This program is a good fit for students who:
• enjoy calm, hands on activities
• like detailed and tactile work
• can focus for extended periods
• are comfortable working independently in a group
It is intentionally designed for ages 10 to 14 and is not a good fit for younger children.
Daily details
• Participants should bring a sack lunch and water bottle each day
• We provide an afternoon snack
• If your child has dietary restrictions, please send an appropriate snack from home
• Required paperwork including a waiver and studio guidelines will be emailed prior to the program
Parents or guardians are welcome to stop in briefly during the day, as long as visits do not interfere with group instruction or the creative process.
We strictly adhere to age requirements. This program requires sustained focus, listening skills, and patience with detailed work.
