Comic & Character Lab Ages 10+ June 9th and 10th 10:30am - 3:00pm
Kids dive into the building blocks of creating a graphic novel. We’ll start with quick concept art, simple character design, and a little plot building so they understand how stories come together. Then we move into the fun stuff: expressions, poses, inking, and layout. They’ll create a cast of characters, design a cover concept, and put together a short comic scene or mini-chapter by the end of day two. It’s fast-paced, creative, and perfect for kids who love graphic novels, manga, cartoons, or telling their own stories.
Materials Provided
We will work with a variety of drawing and inking mediums. Kids will use pencils, erasers, black fineliners, markers, and smooth drawing paper for clean linework and finished pages. Comic panel templates will be available for layout and story flow. Each student also receives a small booklet so they can continue building their comic or graphic novel after the workshop.
Nathan is leading this class and Chris is assisting. He has experience in art, graphic design, creative writing and public speaking. He's developed his own graphic novel and truly enjoys the creative process.
As we get closer to the event, we’ll reach out with studio rules and any required forms. Every child should bring a water bottle and a sack lunch. We provide an afternoon snack; if your child has dietary restrictions, please send a snack from home as well. Thank you.
