5-Week Acrylic Painting Series – Tuesdays in April

6:30 – 8:00 PM | Learn Acrylics Beyond Paint & Sip

This series goes beyond basic step-by-step or paint and sip painting. You’ll learn real acrylic techniques—color mixing, shading, layering, and even texture—so you can truly understand acrylic and create paintings that are uniquely yours.

Weeks 1-3: Techniques & Mini Paintings (Skill-building drills + small projects)

  • Week 1: Color & Blending Mastery

    • Brush control, layering, smooth blends, avoiding muddy colors
    • Mini Project: Gradient + abstract blending study
  • Week 2: Light, Shadow & Depth

    • Shading, highlights, contrast, glazing for realism
    • Mini Project: Monochrome still life or simple object study (mug, apple, candle, etc.)
  • Week 3: Playing with Texture

    • Using palette knives, texture paste, and unconventional tools
    • Mini Project: Abstract or impressionistic piece using texture techniques

Weeks 4-5: Showpiece Painting (Bringing it all together)

  • Week 4: Sketching, Blocking & First Layers

    • Composition planning, underpainting, building up colors
    • Start Showpiece: Students choose their subject (landscape, floral, abstract, still life)
  • Week 5: Refining & Final Details

    • Adding textures, highlights, and finishing touches
    • Complete Showpiece: Walk away with a finished painting

Bonus: Every attendee gets a set of heavy body acrylics to keep!  These are ideal for continued practice at home and will give you better results than simple "craft paint" from discount stores.
