Join us for a fun Squishmallow paint party as we welcome Summer! This will be the last one for awhile, so if you haven't had the chance to attend you'll want to sign up!

Our squishmallow events are very popular.  If you register you must pay for your seats at the time of registration or they will not be held.  Once you fill out the registration form you will be taken to a payment screen.  Thank you.

Parents with children 6 and under must stay, older children may be dropped off and picked up but you need to sign them in.

Here are a few of the paintings in progress from our Spring event! We learn a lot and have fun too.  Aren't they fun?

Register for that one here: https://www.highlandcrafts.net/event/resin-charcuterie-board-2/

Join us for a hands-on resin charcuterie board workshop, where you’ll learn to craft unique, food-safe serving boards. Upon arrival, you can choose from several different styles of boards as the base for your project.

Using a variety of materials including mica dyes, paint, and other decorative additives, you'll create a stunning piece perfect for entertaining.

Be sure to wear old clothes as working with resin can be messy; we'll provide gloves for protection. This workshop is intentionally limited to six participants to ensure detailed, one-on-one instruction. Please note, your finished board will need 24 to 48 hours to fully cure, so you will need to arrange a return visit to collect your artwork.  We  should have them finished off and ready for pickup by May 23rd.

Your ticket includes all project materials, instruction and project finishing (we apply a top coat and board oil once your project cures)

Please be advised we do not allow outside cups or drinks in our studio.  We have water, soda, coffee, tea, wine, malibu splash, and some basic mixed drinks available for purchase.  Thank you for your support.

The images below are samples from around the web of what you can do with resin pours.  The sky is the limit.  We do a lot of resin and paint pour jewelry in our studio - it's like those pieces only bigger - and food safe 🙂  There are SO many ways to do this and they will all be gorgeous.

June 2024

soap making classes

Soap Making Class (Hot Process)

From 1:00pm until 3:00pm

35.00

Join us for an afternoon session where you'll learn all about hot process soap making and how to create your own bars of luxurious, skin-healthy soap at home.

As a small group, we will be cooking up batches of oatmeal honey soap with coconut and olive oil.  This is a best seller and works well for all skin types.

You will go home with a large handout and step-by-step instructions so that you can do it again at home when we are done.  You'll also receive a few bars of soap from our class but will have to return to pick them up after they harden/cure. (a few days to a week) As we cook our batches of soap, you'll participate in the process and I'll show you as we go along what to look for.

I've made soap for over 20 years and I'm happy to simplify the process a bit and answer questions. We'll cover types of oils and their benefits, fragrance (what is safe and what to avoid), how to test your soap to make sure it cooked and will cure correctly, etc.  For this batch we'll be using a mild oatmeal and honey fragrance so as not to overwhelm anyone's senses!

I know it's June, but attendees should wear long sleeve shirts and full length pants.  Light weight is fine and we'll turn the AC up but we are working with lye and making soap from scratch so less skin exposed the better.  I will have safety glasses for those who don't wear prescription glasses.  (This makes it sound scary, it really isn't but we're using an abundance of caution)

No outside drinks or cups of any kind permitted in our studio.  We have water, soda, tea, coffee, wine, malibu splash and limited mixed drinks available for purchase.  Thank you for your support.

Board Game Builder Workshop

From 10:30am until 3:00pm

At VineGogh Wine Bar & Art Studio

175.00

This was a FUN one last year, so we decided to do it again.  Even if your child did a game last year, they are welcome to join us and create another game this year.  We were absolutely blown away by the games these kids designed, developed and tested last year!  Not much surprises me, but their games were jaw dropping.

Join us for an exciting week where we'll dive into the world of board game creation! Throughout the program, we'll engage in a variety of activities including playing, designing, building, and testing custom board games. Ages 9 and up.

Forget flimsy paper creations – we're taking it up a notch by laser cutting and machining durable game pieces and elements.

By the end of the program, your child will have crafted something truly unique, complete with gameplay instructions, all necessary pieces, the game board, and even custom packaging!

Here's a breakdown of what to expect:

  1. Theme Selection: We kick things off by choosing a theme. Whether it's an underwater adventure or a thrilling treasure hunt, the possibilities are endless.

  2. Objective Determination: Next, we define the game's objective. Will players aim to reach a destination, accumulate points, or uncover hidden treasures? The choice is yours!

  3. Challenge Creation: We'll create challenges tailored to the theme and objective, incorporating elements like player advantages and disadvantages.

  4. Character and Piece Design: Get ready to bring your game to life with unique characters and pieces that fit the theme seamlessly.

  5. Board Layout Planning: We'll sketch out the board layout on paper, detailing the setting, start and end points, action spaces, and more.

  6. Rule Writing: Once the layout is finalized, we'll draft the game rules to ensure smooth gameplay.

  7. Finalization: With the rules in place, it's time to put the finishing touches on the board and pieces.

  8. Custom Packaging: Every great game deserves great packaging! We'll design and create a custom box to house your masterpiece.

  9. Testing and Showcase: Finally, we'll put our games to the test with fellow attendees. On the last day, parents are invited to a "game gallery" from 3pm to 4pm, where they can see (and maybe even play!) the games created by our talented participants. It's a chance to learn about the creative process behind each game and witness firsthand how they work.

Don't miss out on this opportunity for a week of creativity, fun, and game-making magic that will put your child's imagination and skills to the test.

** Children must bring their own lunch and water bottle daily.  We provide one snack/drink per day. On Friday we will have a pizza party!

Paint Like the Pros Ages 10 – 14

From 10:30am until 3:00pm

At VineGogh Studio

180.00

In this program, we'll introduce kids to a wide variety of paintings from different genres and time periods, encouraging them to share what they see and how the art makes them feel. This interactive discussion aims to deepen their understanding of art and help them articulate their own views.

After exploring these diverse artistic expressions, students will choose which artists or styles they feel most drawn to for their own painting projects. Then we'll get creative with watercolor, gouache, and acrylics, applying these mediums to different surfaces including canvas, paper, wood, and glass.

This approach allows students to explore and express their individuality through art, using a variety of materials and inspiration sources. As we progress through the projects, we'll introduce the elements of art—like color blending, space, contrast, and movement—in a fun and non-intimidating way.

At the end of the four days our goal is for your kids to feel more confident in their painting ability.  This program is good for beginners, but is a deeper exploration of art beyond just "coloring in an outline" etc.  We'll learn to develop our own style as we explore throughout the week.

This program has some structure, but also a lot of freedom and is limited to 12 seats (ensuring a lot of one on one attention) and is therefor better for older children.  No one children under 10 will be permitted into this program.  We'll be painting projects that take multiple hours to complete, developing patience and persistence.

Summer Spooktacular Summer Art Program Ages 9 – 13

From 10:30am until 3:00pm

At VineGogh Wine Bar & Art Studio

185.00

This summer, we're offering an art program for ages 9-13 that delves into the darker, enchanting side of creativity, inspired by the likes of Tim Burton and Edgar Allan Poe. From Tuesday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, participants will engage in a variety of art forms, including altered art, mixed media, prop making, and painting, all themed around Gothic and Halloween motifs.  Channel your inner Wednesday Addams and let's get gothy!  We'll also explore some classic spooky tales from the classic Edgar Allan Poe.

Participants will have the opportunity to create everything from Tim Burton-esque characters to "spooky spell books" using altered art techniques. This program is designed for young artists who have a penchant for the Halloween season and darker art themes. While our projects will explore the spookier side of creativity, we are committed to ensuring that all activities are age-appropriate, steering clear of gore, violence, or blood.

We will be using hand tools, hot glue and other items better suited to older children and those who are able to focus for extended periods and follow directions.

Parents are asked to provide a water bottle and sack lunches for their children. We will supplement this with one snack and drink daily, occasionally including some spooky treats to keep the theme alive.

Our goal is to provide a safe, creative space where young artists can explore their fascination with the Halloween aesthetic and Gothic art forms, fostering their skills and imaginations in a fun, supportive environment.

Projects planned include paint on canvas, mixed media / altered book and jar art, clay gargoyles or creatures, top hats, Tim Burton inspired self-portraits, glass bead spiders and glow in the dark pumpkin painting.

INSTRUCTIONS

If your child is attending more than one summer program or if you have siblings attending together MESSAGE us and we'll give you a 10% discount and send an invoice.

Otherwise you can register and pay below.  We cannot hold seats for summer programs without payment! We have limited seats available and most of our summer programs sell out.  We thank you for your support and we can't wait for this one!  🙂
