Join us for a four-week mixed media series focused on texture, printmaking, and layered art.
Mixed media simply means creating with more than one type of material. In this series, we’ll explore clay, plaster, real botanicals, paint, gel plates, brayers, texture tools, papers, and metallic finishes.
We’ll begin by creating botanical bas-relief plaster pieces using real leaves, flowers, lace, and other natural textures. The following week, we’ll paint, age, and finish those pieces with washes, dry brushing, and metallic accents.
We’ll also explore gel plate printing to create layered papers that can be used for collage, framing, journaling, tags, and backgrounds. In the final week, we’ll bring the techniques together into a finished mixed media piece.
My own mixed media work often leans gothic, bohemian, textured, and a little moody, but this class is about helping you discover your own style. You’ll learn several techniques you may not have tried before while creating pieces that feel personal, experimental, and one-of-a-kind.
This class is great for beginners, but also fun for anyone who wants to loosen up, explore new materials, and make something with depth and texture.
