Hygge is a Danish concept centered on simple pleasures and everyday coziness. In this class, that translates to painting quiet, comforting moments using loose watercolor techniques rather than tight detail. We’ll work wet on wet, build soft layers, and learn to create mood and warmth, not perfection.
Subjects will be intentionally simple and cozy, such as steaming mugs, books, soft light, pillows, sleeping pets or whatever else "hygge" might mean for you. Each painting is designed to feel achievable while still offering room to grow. Beginners will gain confidence with foundational techniques, while intermediate painters can focus on refinement, color control, and restraint.
This is a small group class to allow for real guidance and individual help. The pace is calm, the instruction is clear, and there’s no pressure to keep up or compare work. It’s meant to be a creative reset and something gentle to look forward to during the longest stretch of winter.
You'll complete a few paintings and a couple of bookmarks. You get a set of brushes to keep and I'll send you home with a small pallete of color to continue painting at home between sessions.
Beginner to intermediate friendly.
All materials included.
