In this program, we'll introduce kids to a wide variety of paintings from different genres and time periods, encouraging them to share what they see and how the art makes them feel. This interactive discussion aims to deepen their understanding of art and help them articulate their own views.
After exploring these diverse artistic expressions, students will choose which artists or styles they feel most drawn to for their own painting projects. Then we'll get creative with watercolor, gouache, and acrylics, applying these mediums to different surfaces including canvas, paper, wood, and glass.
This approach allows students to explore and express their individuality through art, using a variety of materials and inspiration sources. As we progress through the projects, we'll introduce the elements of art—like color blending, space, contrast, and movement—in a fun and non-intimidating way.
At the end of the four days our goal is for your kids to feel more confident in their painting ability. This program is good for beginners, but is a deeper exploration of art beyond just "coloring in an outline" etc. We'll learn to develop our own style as we explore throughout the week.
This program has some structure, but also a lot of freedom and is limited to 12 seats (ensuring a lot of one on one attention) and is therefor better for older children. No one children under 10 will be permitted into this program. We'll be painting projects that take multiple hours to complete, developing patience and persistence.
